Pulvertaft’s Brass and Copper Works previously occupied the site where Household Linens is now situated.

Household Linens was established in 1977 by Con Murphy who learned his trade in Cork’s old Munster Arcade. Since 2003 it has been in the ownership of Joseph Cotter (who joined the company in 1981) and his wife Norma. Originally, the business was located at 11 Princes Street, and two further shops were opened on the Grand Parade and Castle Street. We then moved to Cook Street for a short spell before setting up home in our current premises at 118 Oliver Plunkett St. in 1990.

Long before the arrival of Household Linens, this space was a goods inwards yard for Pulvertaft’s Brass and Copper Works, as Guy’s Almanac proves. For an image of Guy’s map of Cork also, click here.

The shop as it is today. Window shopping highly recommended!

Today Household Linens continues to attract customers from Cork and many areas outside of the county too. Don’t forget to pop by if you’re in town!
